Fetch Quest - a deck-building game in the Realms of Pugmire

Created by Richard Thomas / Onyx Path Publishing

Fetch Quest is a family-friendly cooperative deck-building game. Each player represents a pioneer, one of six adventurous dogs on a dangerous quest. The pioneers work together to overcome dangerous challenges and resolve missions. Once the missions are resolved, the quest is finished and the players win the game.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

The latest Kickstarter Campaign for the Realms of Pugmire
almost 3 years ago – Tue, Jul 13, 2021 at 07:18:11 PM

Venture into the Realms of Pugmire one more time in the latest sourcebook for the Pugmire tabletop RPG.

Rats and mice live in the margins of the empires of dogs and cats, with homes that connect to the Underneath — a vast collection of warrens, tunnels, caves, and other hidden places. It is a dangerous place full of unexplained phenomena and terrifying creatures. But it is also full of wonders of ages past and the thrill of discovery. For the rodents believe Man was part of something called Science, a way to learn power through study, observation, and experimentation. Perhaps through the exploration of the Underneath, they can rediscover what Man has left behind. It’s time to listen to the squeaks in the deep.

Now on Kickstarter

Squeaks in the Deep is a chronicle sourcebook for both Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau. It’s usable with either game, or as part of a joint experience. Some highlights include:

  • Two new species for players to portray: rats and mice
  • Six new rodent callings
  • Psionic rules
  • Information on the Underneath, as well as a variety of new enemies
  • “Confluence of Cults,” an adventure featuring the Underneath with both Pugmire and Monarchies starting points

Squeaks in the Deep offers a new, bold canvas for your Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau games: the Underneath. This vast world of natural caverns, abandoned tunnels, and forgotten facilities offer enticing adventures to draw in heroes of all kinds. The Underneath holds treasures long lost by Man. It also holds unusual creatures with evolved intelligence like dogs and cats, but who changed in unexpected ways. For all the ways the surface world tried to reclaim what Man left behind, the Underneath twists and turns away from the expected for those who map the depths.

The Underneath provides Guides with a chance to embrace weirdness in their chronicle. It’s been a long time since Man left this world behind, and there are plenty of things left unchecked and unexplained. Was Man responsible for these uncanny places? Or were these the forces that drove Man into the mists of history? The answer is ultimately up to the Guide, but this book provides some fantastic left turns and roller coaster drops they can use to surprise their table.

NOW ON KICKSTARTER!

almost 5 years ago – Thu, Jun 27, 2019 at 03:41:52 PM

Hello Kickstarter Barkers,

We've recently completed a Pugmire-related kickstarter campaign, the Pirates of Pugmire, so wanted to send out one more update to share Eddy's overall Pugmire status and do a last call for any issues or questions before we enter the dog days of summer...

Realms of Pugmire Update (June 2019) by Eddy Webb
Wow, that was an exciting month, wasn't it? Now that Pirates of Pugmire has docked safely in harbor, it's time to look at the Realms of Pugmire as a whole!

PIRATES PLAYTESTING TO END SOON
I'm going to wrap up the Pirates of Pugmire playtesting soon, so I can update the manuscript and send it off to editing. I'll be closing the form on JULY 1. So, if you haven't had a chance to send off your comments, now's the time! Here's the link again for those who missed it: https://forms.gle/G78gYBjX5EkNKFMQ9

REFRESHED REALMS OF PUGMIRE WEBSITE
In case you didn't know, the Realms of Pugmire website has been refreshed. Now there are clear pages for all your Pugmire RPG needs, as well as Mau. In addition, we have a new "More Pugmire" page for all related products, such as Fetch Quest, our interactive audio drama, and more! Check it out at realmsofpugmire.com!

TAKING A NAP
Between the Fetch Quest launch, wrapping up the Mau stretch goal books, and the Pirates of Pugmire Kickstarter, there's been a lot happening in the Realms! We have some stuff happening behind the scenes, but that means things will be a bit quiet as we focus on wrapping up Pirates of Pugmire and working on the stretch goal adventure. We're also going to take the opportunity to think about what's coming next in the Realms. We'll definitely have more Pugmire goodness coming in future, so stay tuned!

The game has shipped out to stores and is available in the greater, wider world, as well as online via Print on Demand cards (as noted in our update last month), and launched support for online play via Roll20.

If you have any outstanding issues, please contact me as soon as possible!

If you have any questions or concerns, you can post them to the comments for this update, the comment section, or contact the team via the Contact Creator link on the kickstarter page and Rich will forward it to me.

Otherwise, I think it's time to give a pat on the head to all of the Onyx Path team and Eddy and the Pugsteady crew, and consider this kickstarter campaign successfully completed. Enjoy the summer, play some Fetch Quest, and keep an eye on RealmsofPugmire.com for further news.

(You can also hear Eddy discuss the writing and design of Pirates of Pugmire on this week's Onyx Pathcast podcast on your favorite podcast venues, or here on : https://onyxpathcast.podbean.com/)

We need you to help us create a  7" x 10" hardcover between 150-200 pages, with a full-color interior and endpapers on high quality paper stock. We also want to get at least one print run into traditional distribution and available for sale at game and hobby stores. Throughout this Kickstarter campaign, we will be posting complete previews of the Pirates of Pugmire manuscript as backer-only updates.

To get you excited about the book, here's a small snippet of pirate fiction I wrote!

---

The deck of the Wet Nose was abuzz with activity. The crew desperately adjusted sails, pulled ropes, and turned wheels — anything to try and steer the course of the ship away from the looming thick fog sitting dead ahead of them. Captain Pug calmly walked among the crew, staring at the Fog when she wasn’t barking the occasional order. Eventually, the blue sky took up more and more of the view. Noctis returned to his captain, who was still staring ahead. “Ma’am, shouldn’t you be happy? We’ve cleared the Fog.”

“We have. But you’ve forgotten one thing.”

At that precise moment, the water all around the ship started to boil. The acidic water splashed onto the desk, irritating the eyes and skin of all the crew as they tried to figure out what was going on. Noctis ran to the side of the ship and stuck his head into the spray, shielding his eyes to get a better look. He caught a glimpse of something dark and rubbery slithering under the water before it disappeared again.

Then he heard a loud keening wail, and a giant squid-like creature lurched out of the water in front of the ship. Its tentacles waved menacingly in the air as it reared up, as large as the ship itself.

Captain Pug stared calmly at the monstrosity. “You forgot the kraken, number one.”

April 2019 Status Update
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 23, 2019 at 12:59:42 PM

Hello Fetch Quest Barkers,

As we move into the final week of April, we're also in the process of concluding this campaign! We're in the "mostly delivered" stage - many of you have received your rewards, and I've seen awesome pictures and unboxing shots online.

There are a few stray doggies (uh, I mean, packages) out there that I'm trying to track down. Apologies and thanks for your patience to those folks still waiting for their shipment. International mail can be tricky, and there are a few cracks in the system that I'm hoping to patch over.

It's James, your point person for this kickstarter campaign.
It's James, your point person for this kickstarter campaign.

So, while we're technically in the process of finishing everything off for this campaign, there are a few bits and pieces that I want to highlight for you.

First up, let's check in with the greater Realms of Pugmire and Eddy Webb's April update...

Realms of Pugmire Update (April 2019)

Greetings, good dogs and excellent cats! 'Tis time once again for another thrilling update from the Realms of Pugmire

NEW MAU RELEASES!

The Mau stretch goal train just keeps on steaming ahead! Last month, we released the Roll of Good Dogs and Excellent Cats to our purr-fect Mau Kickstarter backers. And now we're sending out TWO more!
First is our collection of three Monarchies of Mau adventures, which are (naturally) called Adventures for Curious Cats! They range from an introductory story, “Murder Most Foul,” wherein players unravel a possible conspiracy threatening to undermine the monarchies, to “The Lost Library of Amosen,” an eldritch tale of mystery and Unseen abominations, to “A Lizard’s Tale,” in which players accompany a gecko companion to ruins of the Old Ones for treasures, glory, and allegiances.

Next is our anthology, Tales of Excellent Cats. Written by Aaron Rosenberg, Elaine Cunningham, Monica Valentinelli, Beth Cato, Errick A. Nunnally, Joseph D. Carriker, Jr., Sabrina Vourvoulias, ZZ Claybourne, Steven S. Long, LaShawn M. Wanak, Erin M. Evans, Lee Murray, Karen Bovenmyer, and Lucy A. Snyder, these short stories featuring a wide variety of cunning and curious cats will hopefully delight and entertain you, and maybe even give you ideas for your own chronicles.

Once our eligible Kickstarter backers have their files and we collect some errata, we'll be putting them up for sale, so keep an eye out!

DIGITAL DOGS

Meanwhile, the Realms have been going increasingly digital! No, I'm not talking about everyone's favorite non-existent game CyberPug 3.0.3.0. Instead, two exciting digital Pugmire products are on the horizon!
One of the original stretch goals from the very first Pugmire Kickstarter campaign was an interactive audio drama released by Earplay. And now it's in soft launch! There are still some bugs to work out, which is why we haven't been shouting it from the rooftops just yet, but it is available right now on iOS via the Earplay app. Our friends over there are handling everything, so if you have any questions or you can't wait and want to check it out, head on over to earplay.com

Also, now that our Fetch Quest backers have gotten their nice, shiny copy of the card game, we've worked quietly behind the scenes to offer an online version! In a few weeks you'll be able to buy a copy of Fetch Quest and play it with people online using Roll20.com. We're putting together a live streaming event to show everyone how it works, so stay tuned for more information!

PIRATES OF PUGMIRE IS UP NEXT!

Get ready to weigh anchor and head to the Acid Sea, because Pirates of Pugmire will be the next Onyx Path Kickstarter! I have a complete pre-edited manuscript to put into the paws of eager Kickstarter backers to review as the campaign goes on, and we're getting some great-looking art to show you what this book can be! Whether you're a fan of Pugmire or a player in the Monarchies of Mau, this book will be a complete chronicle that both dogs and cats can enjoy! I've already squawked like a parrot about this, so I'll save it for when we go live, mateys!

PROJECT STATUS

And we still have a few more exciting products coming out soon! Let's check in and see how they're doing.

As mentioned in Eddy's update, soon Fetch Quest will be available and supported for online play via Roll20.com. I'll share a copy of their video event discussing that once it's available.

And, with Fetch Quest working its way to backers, and then to game and hobby stores through distribution, you'll soon be able to purchase the booster cards (and maybe other expansions in the future) from DrivethruCards.com. Again, I'll share the link in the future. So, still lots of fun things to come.

As noted, I am following up on stray orders, so I'll keep on that until all has been delivered. If you have any other questions or concerns, you can post them to the comments for this update, the comment section, or contact the team via the Contact Creator link on the kickstarter page and Rich will forward it to me.

And finally, a small moment to share our current Kickstarter, which is in the final 48 hour countdown...
